What kind of practitioners/businesses do you work with?

I love helping people who help people! That means I love working with anybody whose mission it is to help others live a healthy, fulfilling and meaningful life. In practice, that could be therapists, mental health coaches, educators, personal development businesses, nutritionists and other health practitioners, physiotherapists, etc.  If you’re not sure whether we’d be a good fit, just reach out so we can have a chat.

Do you understand the sensitive nature of our work?

Absolutely! Selling “health” is a tricky subject, I get it. It doesn’t matter if it’s mental, physical or emotional health you are offering, there is a fine line between communicating the powerful impact your work can have and sounding “sales-y”. What experience do you have with marketing in the holistic health industry?

I have two masters degrees – one in corporate communication and one in analytical psychology. I started my marketing career in 2019, working in a variety of different agency settings doing everything from influencer marketing, content marketing, search engine optimization and Google Ads. I started Heartfirst Marketing on the side in 2020 and have been working exclusively with practitioners in the health and wellness industry since 2021. Since that time I have done everything from marketing strategy, website development, search engine optimization, conversion optimization, graphic design, blog writing, social media, newsletters, podcast management, video editing, and more!

How much will it cost to work with you? Do I need a large marketing budget?

In terms of marketing costs, you definitely won’t need a large budget to implement the Heartfirst Approach. Your monthly costs will mainly consist of running your website (usually around $20-60/month), and possibly a few marketing tools (like email marketing software) which are generally either free for low usage or quite reasonable (also around $20-30/month). The only potentially higher expense could be for practitioners who are interested in trying out Google Ads, which typically requires an investment starting at around $300-400 per month to be effective. However, this is entirely optional and usually only suited for those who already have the budget and want to explore this particular avenue.

What does a "client-centered approach to marketing" actually mean?

For many businesses, the focus of marketing is on selling yourself and your services. While this is a key aspect of telling your story, I believe that the most effective type of marketing is the kind that puts its clients at the forefront of all decision making. What problems are our clients facing? What challenges are they dealing with on a daily basis? What do we, as a business, have to offer to make their life easier? From this perspective, your business becomes a story that promises a solution and marketing becomes all about telling that story. When every part of your business’ communications shows how much you care about your clients and their well-being, sales usually end up increasing all on their own.

How can we ensure that the marketing efforts will be aligned with ethical standards?

Absolutely! I understand that many heath-related businesses will be tied to certain ethical regulations such as HIPAA, etc. Maintaining the highest ethical standards in all marketing communication is one of my highest priorities. In the majority of cases, this kind of work won’t involve handling any sensitive client information, so HIPAA regulations won’t be a concern. However, in some instance where practitioners might want to use external marketing tools that collect client information, I can provide recommendations for specific tools/resources that allow practitioners to ensure compliance. 

How long does it typically take to see results from this approach?

The timeline for results can vary based on several factors including your specific practice history, your target audience, and the strategies implemented.

For example, increasing organic traffic through search engine optimization is free but it usually takes several months until you start reaping the fruits of your labor. Running Google Ads on the other hand can give you new client leads within a matter of days but usually requires that practitioners have the available budget to spend on these ads.

So there is no clear cut answer to this but on average, I’d say you will usually start noticing positive shifts in website traffic and engagement within a few months
